How to Self-motivate

Have you ever set health and fitness goals for yourself and felt yourself drifting further away from them due poor motivation? That happens...and is reason #1 why I don't support dieting. Once we 'fail' we lose even more motivation, revert to our old habits and things tend to spiral. Here are a few steps you can take in the right direction to reach your goals!
Positive Mindset
Your mindset sets the tone for everything you do. If you start a new habit from a place of negativity, you can expect negative results. Start positive and stay positive.
Find Your 'Why'
When making a habit change to improve your health, make a list of reasons why you're doing it. This list of “whys” will be your reminder of why you started. Keep the list visible on your fridge or your desk.
Maybe you’re looking to stay healthy so that you can keep up with your kids. Wish you had more energy during the workday? Exercising will definitely make you more focused and energetic at work. Find your why. Let it be your guide.
Change The Way You Speak to Yourself
The most important thing to do on your wellness journey is to be kind to yourself. While you will often want to push yourself, you have to remember to be gentle. Speak to yourself positively; speak to yourself how you would speak to a friend. Gentle words will make all the difference when you’re feeling down or unmotivated. Here are some ways you can change your attitude and tone with yourself:
Instead of: I need to lose weight // Try: I want to have more energy
Instead of: I look horrible // Try: This is my body, it helps me do everything I need
Instead of: I can’t do this // Try: I can do hard things
Instead of: I don’t feel like exercising // Try: I LOVE the way I feel after a workout
Staying on track can be hard. Keep these things in mind the next time you aren’t feeling motivated to reach your goals. It’ll all be worth it.
